Gerard filmed the role of 'Storekeeper Mayfield' for the Annapurna Pictures / Why Not Productions film, THE SISTERS BROTHERS, in the summer of 2017.

This western is directed by Palme d'Or winner, Jacques Audiard​, and stars Jake Gyllenhaal​, Joaquin Phoenix​, Riz Ahmed​, John C. Reilly, Rutger Hauer, and Rebecca Root. It was released in the USA and France in Autumn 2018, and had its UK release in April 2019.

The film is based on Patrick deWitt's Booker Prize nominated novel of the same name.

"The film is Audiard’s follow-up to his Palme d’Or-winning Dheepan, which premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. It also will be his first shot completely in English. John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Riz Ahmed are set to star in the noir Western, written by Audiard and Thomas Bidegain. Production will start this summer.
